Activities

Experience Brevens Bruk in different ways. We can offer everything from quiet and peaceful walks through the historic Brevens Bruk to action-packed mountain bike trails in the forest. We also offer guided tours for larger groups.

Walks through the village

A walk through the mill is a walk through history and at the same time a pleasure for the eyes. The Brevensån River flows through the community and it is not uncommon to see fallow deer everywhere.

Among the buildings are the manor house from 1698, the mill church from 1842, the blast furnace and roasting oven also from the 19th century, where the roasting oven in particular has become one of Brevens Bruk’s most famous buildings with its octagonal roof, and there you can take guided tours or participate in various events at certain times. The majority of the buildings that today characterize the mill environment were added during the 1830s and 1840s. In the old carpentry workshop we can find an active local history association today. In addition, Breven has its own mill museum that shows the mill’s production and a model museum that shows cast models. We also find in the old mill buildings an arts and crafts shop, a gallery and the more modern “Brevensgården” with a pub, restaurant and meeting room.

Given that the buildings and facilities at Brevens Bruk have been classified by the County Administrative Board as having “particularly high cultural and historical value”, large parts of Brevens Bruk have been declared a listed building.

Guided tours

Brevens Bruk has medieval origins, but it was not until 1676 that the ironworks movement began in the area. Unlike other parts of Bergslagen, there were no mines here, but the ore was transported here from, among other places, Utö outside Nynäshamn. The mill was known for its fine castings. Among other things, the Djurgårdsbron in Stockholm was cast here.

A guided tour involves a walk through Brevens Bruk with information and stories about, among other things, the roasting and blast furnace, the mill museum and Brevens Church. We offer guided tours for larger groups.

Mountainbike

At Ringsbergsleden there are nice cycling trails of varying difficulty. Start, for example, at Solbergabadet and follow the posted signs that show the length of the trail and the difficulty level.
Remember that the trails coincide with hiking trails. Show consideration, make yourself heard in good time and slow down!

The MTB trails in Brevens bruk mainly run along exercise trails and are shared with the running trails in the area. The trails are maintained by Brevens IF and Kilsmo IK. The trails are marked with 4, 5, 6. Not far from Brevens there is more cycling in Kilsmo where you will find trails 1, 2, 3. You can also cycle the Brevensleden which runs from Lännäs to Brevens bruk through a rural environment lined with farms, fields and forests.

Some elevation differences and an adjacent lake. The course suits you regardless of whether you are a beginner, a recreational player or have come further in your development as a disc golf player. The holes vary between 50 and 150 meters.
The disc golf course is located at the Röda Sand bathing area, where there is also parking. Click here for rules and map
